Mission

Spokane Pride is dedicated to empowering and celebrating the LGBTQIA2S+ community in the Inland Northwest. The organization envisions a healthy, thriving community with space to heal and belong. Spokane Pride is committed to creating inclusive, engaging, and accessible experiences for all, fostering environments that affirm the identities of all people, standing against racism, and promoting accessibility and inclusive networking.

History

The first Pride march in Spokane took place in 1992, organized by the local PFLAG chapter. Participants marched on the sidewalks, and the following year, the event expanded to the streets with a small rally in the park. The motivation for organizing the Spokane Pride Parade and Festival remains the same to this day: to march for the visibility of LGBTQIA2S+ people and fight for the inclusion of all people.

Programs and Initiatives

Annual Pride Parade and Festival

Spokane Pride hosts the largest Pride celebration in the Inland Northwest. The 2025 event is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, featuring five vibrant stages, 120 performers, three bands, hundreds of local vendors, and thousands of attendees. The festival includes a parade, family-friendly activities, and various performances.

Pride History and Remembrance Project

This initiative aims to create a historical record that recognizes the influence of queer people in Spokane's past and cements 2SLGBTQIA+ voices in the city's history. The project includes exhibits and collaborations with organizations like the Spokane Falls Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

BIPOC Advisory and Equity Council

Spokane Pride is in the process of creating a BIPOC Advisory and Equity Council to adequately represent the views and maintain equity in their efforts to acknowledge and honor every person the organization represents.
