Mission

Manzanita House is devoted to creating an inclusive space where all immigrants and refugees have a place at the table to freely and fully participate in community. The organization embraces, equips, and empowers immigrants through access to culturally informed essential services and facilitates connections to help them grow deeper roots and thrive in Spokane.

History

Established in 2021 by a group of professionals and volunteers active in Spokane's immigrant community, Manzanita House was founded to fill gaps in services for immigrants and refugees in Eastern Washington. The name "Manzanita" symbolizes resilience, reflecting the strength and adaptability of the communities they serve.

Programs and Services

Manzanita Immigrant Legal Aid (MILA)

MILA provides low-cost, accessible legal services focusing on family-based and humanitarian immigration assistance. Services include adjustment of status, naturalization, employment authorization, family petitions, and more. MILA serves clients primarily in Spokane County but has also assisted individuals from Western Washington, Idaho, and Montana.

Youth Language Classes

Recognizing the importance of heritage language preservation, Manzanita House offers language classes for immigrant and refugee youth. These classes aim to strengthen cultural identity and familial connections.

Women's Empowerment

The organization provides support groups and resources tailored to immigrant and refugee women, focusing on leadership development, self-sufficiency, and community engagement.

Referral Hub

Manzanita House assists individuals in navigating local resources by providing referrals to services such as healthcare, housing, education, and employment opportunities.

Community Engagement

Through events like resource fairs, cultural celebrations, and educational workshops, Manzanita House fosters community connections and promotes inclusivity.
