Community Standards
📜 Spokane.wiki Community Standards
Welcome to Spokane.wiki — a community resource built by and for the people of Spokane. This space exists to support local organizing, education, mutual aid, and action. To keep this space open, useful, and respectful for everyone, we ask all contributors to follow these community standards:
1. Be Respectful
Treat everyone with dignity, even when there’s disagreement. Hate speech, personal attacks, harassment, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
2. Stay On Mission
This wiki exists to connect and uplift local activism, organizing, and community-building in Spokane. Please keep contributions focused on:
- Local organizations and collectives
- Events, campaigns, or calls to action
- Educational resources relevant to our region
- Mutual aid, advocacy, and justice-oriented work
This is not a space for self-promotion, commercial advertising, or unrelated topics.
3. Contribute in Good Faith
We’re building something together. Please don’t knowingly add false information, remove valid content without reason, or create misleading pages. If you're not sure, leave a comment on the talk page or ask a moderator.
4. Use Inclusive Language
When possible, use language that is people-centered, anti-oppressive, and welcoming to all. Avoid jargon or gatekeeping. Make information easy to understand so more people can access it.
5. No Trolling, Spamming, or Vandalism
Obvious spam, defacement of pages, link dumping, and trolling will result in immediate blocks. If you're here to cause harm, this isn't the space for you.
6. Cite and Link Responsibly
If you're adding information from another source, please link to it or provide a reference. Don't copy large sections of content from other sites without permission.
7. Respect Privacy
Do not publish private contact info (like phone numbers, emails, or addresses) of individuals without their consent — even if it's public elsewhere.
8. Ask Questions, Offer Help
New to wikis? That’s okay — we’re learning together. Ask questions on the talk pages or reach out to the moderators. If you’re an experienced contributor, help others learn the ropes.
9. Don’t Edit-War
If someone reverts your edit, don’t keep changing it back. Instead, talk it out on the "Discussion" page for that article. Collaboration > conflict.
10. Help Keep Things Organized
- Add categories to pages where appropriate (e.g., [[Category:Mutual Aid]])
- Use clear headings and formatting
- Link to related wiki pages to make info easier to find
🚨 What Happens If Standards Are Violated?
Admins may warn, restrict, or block accounts that violate these rules. In extreme or repeated cases, accounts may be permanently banned and pages may be protected from further edits.
